From 4th to 9th of September toook part the training from UpSkills project in Moclín, Granada providing a unique opportunity In an increasingly connected digital world, training in immersive technologies is becoming one of the most in-demand skills in the job market. With this in mind, the UpSkills training program brought together 30 young people for 6 intensive days, equipping them with the most innovative tools and platforms for creating virtual reality (VR) environments and digital content.

The power of virtual reality in the hands of creative youth

At the heart of the training was Unity, one of the most widely-used game development and 3D environment engines in the industry. Through practical sessions, the young participants not only learned the basics of Unity but also designed their own virtual environments, with a focus on both design and functionality.

Thanks to this training, the participants acquired skills that will allow them to bring immersive experiences to life, reaching far beyond the world of video games. From simulating architectural spaces to creating virtual scenarios, the possibilities explored during this program were limitless.

Introducing Viroo: collaborative VR at its best

One of the most interesting tools of the training was the introduction to Viroo, an advanced virtual reality software that allows multiple users to interact in the same immersive environment. Viroo not only gave the young people the chance to explore new forms of virtual collaboration but also showed them how this technology can be used to solve and create infinite ideas in VR.

During hands-on sessions, the participants designed collaborative environments where they worked together to solve challenges in real-time, experimenting with how virtual reality can transform their ideas easily without need programing skills.

Many of the participants were trying this kind of technology for the first time, allowing them to experience the full potential that it is bringing to the world. with the

Streaming and virtual avatars: Innovating digital content creation

In today’s digital age, it’s important not only to create virtual worlds but also to communicate and share those experiences. That’s why another key part of UpSkills was training in streaming software with virtual avatars, a powerful tool for interactive digital content creation.

The young people learned to use these avatars to record videos or create podcasts in a fully virtual environment, opening up new storytelling possibilities. By using these tools, they were able to experiment with live content production, using their avatars as digital representations to create a more direct and immersive connection with their audience. The participants learned to use software like Animaze, which allows users to control avatars for live streaming, and Elgato Camera Hub, a tool that enhances video quality for professional-grade streaming. These tools enabled the young participants to record videos or create podcasts in a fully virtual environment, opening up new storytelling possibilities. By experimenting with live content production, they used their avatars as digital representations, creating a more direct and immersive connection with their audience.

More than technical training: A future full of possibilities

Beyond the technical skills, the UpSkills program inspired young people to think critically and creatively about how immersive technologies can be used in the future. From the potential of virtual reality in entertainment, education, and healthcare to how virtual avatars can revolutionize digital content creation and interaction, the participants explored numerous future possibilities.

The 30 participants left not only with new competencies in VR and streaming tools but also with the confidence to tackle the challenges of the digital era. With the rapid growth of these technologies, being part of this training positions them to be future leaders in the creation of immersive experiences.

Thanks to our Trainer expert in VR and content creation Alberto Carlier for provide us with this amazing experience full of learning, and a endless world of opportunities.

Next step: join the hackathon!

Following the success of the UpSkills training, the journey doesn’t end here. The next big step is an exciting Hackathon, where anyone passionate about immersive technologies is invited to join! Participants will collaborate to further develop and improve the virtual scenarios created during the training. Whether you’re a programmer, designer, or simply curious about the potential of virtual reality, the Hackathon will provide a platform for innovation, creativity, and teamwork. It’s the perfect opportunity to contribute, learn, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in immersive environments.

Stay tuned for more details on how to participate in this incredible event!
