When Dávid Liptai, a Hungarian economic informatics student living with autism, joined another Erasmus+ training, it was not a leap into the unknown—it was a continuation of a path he’s actively pursuing. As someone with a passion for travel, learning, and connecting with people from different cultures, Dávid is no stranger to the transformative power of Erasmus+. His ongoing participation highlights the inclusivity and opportunities these programs offer to everyone, regardless of challenges.
A World of New Experiences
Having already participated in multiple Erasmus+ programs, Dávid eagerly embraced this latest adventure. His excitement was fueled by the opportunity to expand his horizons yet again. “I felt amazing throughout the program,” he shared. “It allowed me to dive deeper into the IT world, learning computer modeling and exploring technologies that I’ve always been interested in. And, of course, I love seeing the world!”
His favorite parts of this particular program were trying virtual reality (VR) headsets, participating in cultural evenings, and exploring the outdoors through hiking. For Dávid, the friendships and cultural exchanges were the heart of the experience: “Meeting people from different backgrounds and sharing stories with them—it was incredible. These are the connections that make Erasmus+ special.”
Growing Skills and Building Confidence
Dávid’s enthusiasm for technology found a perfect match in the program’s activities. Learning to create computer models and working with Unity to explore virtual reality were highlights that aligned perfectly with his interests. “Virtual reality has always fascinated me, and this program gave me hands-on experience. It felt like the perfect fit,” he explained.
Beyond technical growth, Dávid’s English skills saw noticeable improvement. While he faced language barriers at times, he tackled them head-on with support from his peers. “Sometimes I struggled to express myself, but there was always someone to help me. The teamwork and collaboration made all the difference,” he said.
A Vibrant Erasmus+ Community
As an experienced Erasmus+ participant, Dávid understands the value of these programs as much for their social impact as their educational benefits. Collaborating with other young people on a graphic design project and participating in fun team activities created a sense of belonging. “Programs like this recharge me,” Dávid said. “It’s like being part of a family that’s full of amazing memories and energy.”
When asked about the program’s impact on his life, Dávid’s response was enthusiastic: “These experiences motivate me and help me grow. They always leave me feeling inspired to keep learning and exploring.”
The “Plus” in Erasmus+: A Unique Perspective
Living with autism has given Dávid a unique perspective on Erasmus+. For him, the “plus” symbolizes the added opportunities for inclusivity and growth.
“Erasmus+ is something truly special for people like me. It’s a chance to travel, learn, and meet people in a way that builds your confidence and skills. For others with autism, I can’t recommend it enough—it’s a fantastic opportunity to grow and connect.”
Looking to the Future
While Dávid is a seasoned Erasmus+ participant, he remains open to new experiences and opportunities. Though he doesn’t yet have a specific project idea in mind, he’s inspired to continue exploring virtual reality and other technologies. “Programs like this always motivate me. They’re not just about learning—they’re about finding a sense of purpose and direction,” he said.
An Ongoing Adventure
Dávid Liptai’s Erasmus+ journey is a shining example of how these programs can empower individuals to overcome challenges, develop new skills, and foster meaningful connections. His story reminds us that Erasmus+ is not just for first-timers—it’s an ongoing adventure for those who want to continue growing and exploring.
For Dávid, the journey doesn’t end here. As he looks ahead to future opportunities, his story serves as an inspiring call to action: no matter where you start, Erasmus+ can take you to incredible places—both inside yourself and out in the world. 🌍
